Dave first opened the doors of Captain Jack's in the late half of the 90’s and has enjoyed being an established, successful entrepreneur in the tattoo industry for over 20+ years now. He's grown to be well-known and respected in the community for both his hard work and teaching/tattooing talent, and believes in giving back to his community every chance he gets. All of this combined with his consistent demand for integrity has been key in CJTS long term success in the industry for over 22 years now! He has thoroughly enjoyed helping students through the tattoo program and seeing them into the industry as very successful tattoo artists, and beyond!

On a personal level, Dave has a wide array of interests and hobbies. He has enjoyed seeing many parts of Europe and loves to travel and spend time with his wife, Cyndi. 

Dave also enjoys rock collecting not only during their travels, but others as well, stating that he is more particular about where a rock came from than what it looks like, and boasts a very large rock collection in all sizes, shapes, and colors from many famous landmarks around the world!

Dave has 4 dogs beyond the now late Joey aka "Joey Da King". He is passionate about helping dogs from rescues. There is Chloe, Josie, Nala aka "Naughty" and the newest puppy, JoJo, who is the Grandson to the late Joey and to Chloe. Dave loves to spend time with them all.

Having lived in and loved Portland for well over 30 years, Cyndi has thrived working side by side with Dave for the last 20+ years. The pair make a dynamic and complementary team, making CJTS such a long standing success by serving the community together! 

Cyndi is responsible for the administrative work for both the studio and school, such as student enrollments, assisting Veteran enrollments, designing the learning curriculum, and redesigning catalogs, websites, and working directly with OHL and Oregon's HECC to ensure up to date information for CJ students!  Cyndi also teaches a variety of skills and Continuing Education classes, which include AHA CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and First Aid. Cyndi is also a Bachelor degree prepared Registered Nurse and EMT.  She does a fantastic job implements her vast medical knowledge into the school and studio setting. 

One a personal level Cyndi is very passionate about helping people and  supporting dog rescues. She loves spending time with her husband/family and their 4 fur babies. She and Dave have a son who is a 10 year Marine Corps Veteran, and now a Federal Law Enforcement Officer who most recently earned "Top Gun" of his 2 law enforcement academies. He has also made them the proud grandparents of a granddaughter. They also share 3 daughters, 2 of which have now made them the proud grandparents of 5+ grandchildren, that's 6 total!! And the 3rd & youngest daughter boasts about loving her youth and freedom, and they support her in her fierce independence!
