Dave first opened the doors of Captain Jack's in the late half of the 90’s & has enjoyed being an established business owner in the industry for over 20 years. He's grown to be well-known and respected in the community for both his passion and talent as well as his consistent demand for integrity.
On a personal level, Dave has a wide array of interests and hobbies and is an avid traveler. He has enjoyed seeing many parts of Europe and loves to travel with his wife, Cyndi. He enjoys spending time in hot desert spots like Arizona where he hopes to retire. Dave cherishes both traveling and time with his family very much.
He and Cyndi take special interest in motorcycles, particularly Harley Davidson’s, and love to ride just about as much as they can. He also enjoys rock collecting during his travels, stating that he is more particular about where the rock came from rather than what it looks like, and boasts a large collection in all sizes, shapes, and colors from many famous landmarks around the world. Dave has 3 dogs named Joey, Chloe, and Jozie who he also loves to spend time with.
Having lived in and loved Portland for well over 20 years, Cyndi has thrived working side by side with her husband, Dave, doing the administrative work for Captain Jack's, such as student enrollment, redesigning catalogs, websites, and more! The pair make a dynamic and complementary team. Cyndi loves teaching our Continuing Education classes, which include CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and First Aid.
She has enjoyed watching their hard work pay off as she has seen many once-upon-a-time students become raging successes in the tattoo industry! She also adds with great pride that we are one of Portland’s original tattoo schools - opening our doors in 2002 serving not only Oregon and the PNW but many other students who have come from different states just to attend Captain Jack’s.
Beyond teaching and administrative work, Cyndi is also a Registered Nurse and EMT. She has a real passion for the medical field and loves sharing her knowledge in our school setting with the CEU classes. She loves spending time with her family and their 3 dogs. Her and Dave have a son in the US Marine Corps and 3 daughters, 2 of which have made them the proud grandparents of 5 grandchildren!
