Tattoo Artist

LOCATION:
Captain Jack's Tattoo and Body Piercing School LLC is located at 4601 SE Hawthorne Street, in the southeast section of Portland, Oregon. A wide variety of retail shops, stores, restaurants, motels, apartments and other attractions are within walking distance.

PROGRAM INFORMATION: (Education or Vocational Objective):
Through 210 hours of theory and 150 practical hours each artist will complete a minimum of 360 hours of training and 50 tattoo procedures. This training will allow the artist to graduate with the necessary credentials to become a state-licensed tattoo practitioner, upon successful completion of the State Board Exam. Training will be divided into two main disciplines, "Theory" and "Practical". Theory training will consist of 210 hours of combined bookwork, video, classroom and one-on-one staff training. Practical training will consist of 150 hours of hands-on experience provided with staff guidance and overview. Completion of these disciplines will provide the student with an in-depth understanding of the tattoo industry and Oregon State laws, rules and regulations. Other subjects to be covered include: history, basic art and design, tattoo equipment and supplies, safety, sanitation, sterilization, business operations and Oregon laws pertaining to the tattoo industry. Course completion will be based on state requirements in conjunction with the school's catalog requirements and each student's individual needs.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS and PROCEDURES:
Prior to enrollment, student(s) will read and understand school personnel policies, course catalog and brochure information. All applicants will be at least 18 years of age. A scheduled interview with a school representative is required. (What to bring: artwork, drawings photographs of artwork, portfolio, old, and new sketchpads).

IMPORTANT- All applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED. This must be in your file the first day of school.

SCHOOL CALENDAR and SCHEDULE:
Captain Jack's Tattoo and Body Piercing School LLC is regularly open Monday- Saturday 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Tattoo instructional hours are Sunday-Wednesday 11:00 AM 5:00 PM. Instruction is based on individual needs and can be flexible outside of normal operating hours with staff approval. REQUIRED CREDIT HOURS NEEDED FOR COMPLETION:
There are two options for enrollment, full time or part time. Full time is defined as 24 hours of completed instruction per week for approximately 3½ months. Part time has 2 time frame options offered. Part time, Option One: 18 hours of instruction per week for approximately 4 ½ months. Part time, Option Two: 12 hours of instruction per week, for approximately 7 months. Graduation is based on completing 360 hours of instruction (210hrs Theory and 150hrs of Practical) and performing no less than 50 Tattoo procedures, as defined by the Oregon Health Licensing Agency. In general, the following schedule applies for these hours.

If the student has not finished the 210 Theory hours, 150 Practical hours and/or the 50 Tattoo procedures within the time agreed upon by both parties, the student may be charged for additional shop time and instruction fees.

Tuition:
A $1,000.00 deposit is required upon signing the enrollment agreement to secure your placement in the school. The remaining balance of $6,175.00 is due no later than the first day of class unless other arrangements are made with the school Director.
